Our Veteran's Freedom Center exists to meet the needs of active duty, reserve and all Honorable Discharged Tri-State military veterans.
We offer a place for these veterans to interact with fellow veterans, network together and enjoy the camaraderie that all have shared while proudly servicing the country. We create close interpersonal relationships among our veterans.
The center offers a complete woodworking shop, scroll sawing, and writing pen lathing are two of our most popular wood crafts performed by our veterans. There is an exercise room, and craft room. Our large community room provides leisure activities such as pool, darts, cards, and large screen television. A computer station is also accessible to our veterans.
"Operation We Care" is a grassroots initiative of the Veterans Freedom Center of Dubuque, IA. It is a progressive project designed specifically to address the needs of military veterans and their families. Our mission is to support those veterans and/or veteran's families that have special needs whereby all other means of assistance and support is no longer available.
Some examples of such support has been assisting homeless veterans and families, financial aid for rent and mortgage payments, transportation assistance, pharmaceutical products, provide re-furbished wheelchairs and walkers to the veteran or veteran's family member in need.
Representatives form the "Operation We Care" Board of Directors oversee all applications for assistance. These needs will vary depending upon individual circumstances and are thoroughly reviewed to ensure the request meets the criteria of a true need. All requests and disbursements for assistance are executed with the utmost confidentiality.
Our “Give a Lift to a Vet” Program provides our local veteran population with a comfortable and convenient method of transportation to and from the V. A. Medical Center in Iowa City. Funding from this program is utilized for the purchase of these passenger vans that require replacement every 2 years.
